1. Descriptive Statement

a. The Freeburg Fire Protection District is a public fire protection district organized and operating under the provisions of the Illinois Fire Protection District Act (70 ILCS 705/0.01 et seq.).

b. It is located in St. Clair County, Illinois.

c. The District operates a fire department from the following location:
410 West High Street, Freeburg, IL 62243

f. The District is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of three (3) persons. Regular meetings of the Board are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM at the Fire Station located at 410 West High Street, Freeburg, IL 62243.

The approximate annual budget of the District is $2,064,000.

5. FOIA Requests

Records of the District which are subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act may be requested in writing from the Freedom of Information Act Officer listed above.

Requests must be submitted in writing and delivered to the attention of the Freedom of Information Act Officer at the address listed above.

Requests will be processed within the time permitted by the Illinois Freedom of Information Act:

  • Five (5) business days for non-commercial requests
  • Twenty-one (21) business days for commercial requests

If additional time is required, the requester will be notified in writing.

Copies of records will be furnished in accordance with the provisions of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act:

  • First 50 pages provided at no charge
  • Additional pages charged at $0.15 per page
  • Color or oversized copies provided at actual cost

Any request for a waiver of copying fees must be submitted in writing and accompany the records request.

6. Denial of Requests

A denial of any records request will be made in writing to the requester. Any person who considers the District’s response to be a denial may seek review by:

Requests for review must be submitted within sixty (60) days of the denial pursuant to Section 9.5 of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/9.5).
